Make a Splash at Franklin Fountain
August 5, 2021Throughout the year, Franklin Fountain is a magnet for locals and tourists alike. It’s popular with outdoor enthusiasts who can take in the winding paths, lush trees and gardens and expansive green spaces, and when the weather turns colder, it’s Christmas central: a light show, holiday music, firepits and much more. This summer, there’s a whole new adventure coming to the park, which is just 1.5 miles from your 1213 Walnut apartment.
Last month, Summer Splash opened in Franklin Square, bringing with it a whole new slate of summer fun. From nightly activities to one of the area’s most chic beer gardens, Summer Splash offers plenty of ways to enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
The Franklin Square Beer Garden, a brand new addition to this year’s lineup, is run by Cescaphe, one of the city’s premier event and catering companies—so you can expect top notch ambiance and, of course, top of the line food and drinks! An expansive tent covering 7,300 square feet, complete with chandeliers and rustic garden chic décor sets the scene, while the menu features gourmet light bites like short rib sliders and fried calamari. On the drinks side, enjoy locally brewed beers along with an extensive summer cocktail menu with the best flavors of the season.
The venue is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, with different entertainment every night. On Wednesdays, enjoy free yoga classes and dance lessons and the next night come back to dine, drink and dance to live DJ music. On Fridays and Saturdays, the dance floor will be packed as some of the area’s best acoustic artists take the stage.
Beyond the beer garden and performances, visitors can take in the nightly fountain show with free performances every half-hour, grab a game of mini-golf and visit the Once Upon a Nation Storytelling Bench to get a dose of history along with their outdoor adventure.
This summer, make a splash at Franklin Square Park!
