APARTMENTS
New Year, New You
January 5, 2021The year 2020 is finally in the history books! Now, it’s time to focus on the year to come—which many of us often start with New Year’s resolutions. Getting fit and in shape is usually one of the most common goals. You can definitely get started right at home at your 1213 Walnut apartment, with your state-of-the-art fitness center. And if you’re looking to add to your routine with a group workout, once area gyms fully reopen, there are plenty of local spots where you can work on your fitness while (safely!) getting some motivation by friends and neighbors.
One space is Optimal Gym, just one block from your 1213 Walnut apartment. The multifaceted fitness center includes a full gym as well as a range of classes for all interests and abilities. Boot Camp Fitness sessions include workouts focused on cardio, speed, endurance, resistance and strength training, using equipment like dumbbells, barbells, tractor tires, fires hoses, medicine balls and more. The training is team-oriented, with fitness games, races, obstacle courses and group challenges.
Pilates is another popular program, a full-body workout designed to enhance everything from flexibility to coordination. Optimal Gym offers yoga sessions, ranging from beginner to advanced, as well as Latin-inspired Zumba dance classes. It specializes in a form of functional training known as suspension training. In this approach, trainers teach clients how to leverage their own bodyweight and gravity, which ultimately can tone muscles, increase balance and flexibility, and strengthen joints. Trainers enhance the sessions with kettlebells, bosu and ropes. Apart from the classes, members also have access to racquetball courts, basketball courts, a boxing training room, spinning machines, a dance studio, sauna and much more.
So once the city fully reopens, if you’re looking for a new way to challenge your physically and mentally without traveling too far from your 1213 Walnut apartment, a membership at Optimal Gym is a great way to fulfill that New Year’s resolution.
