Where to Drink and Dine Outdoors this Summer
August 6, 2020Outdoor dining and drinking was always a staple of the Philly summer scene—now more so than ever! With ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, many Philly establishments, including lots near your 1213 Walnut apartment, have moved their operations al fresco, so you can still enjoy the award-winning cuisine and cocktails local spots are known for, and get a little (safe!) socializing done at the same time. With so many outdoor dining options, it can be hard to narrow down all the choices. So why not go with one that has a long history of nailing this whole outdoor thing?
Parks on Tap has been the city’s most popular traveling beer garden for five years, and while this year’s event will be formatted a bit differently, it’s still going to pack a punch! One of the standout features of Parks on Tap was that it stretched to all four corners of the city so the event was always popping up close by, no matter where you live. It will only be in two spots this year, but one of them isn’t far from your 1213 Walnut apartment—and, where the event only lasted a few days at a time before, now it’s here through the fall!
One of the locations is at the Water Works, two miles from your 1213 Walnut apartment and right in the shadow of Boathouse Row and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The picturesque setting spans 25,000 square feet, giving you plenty of room to stretch out and kick back with your brew, bites and the amazing view.
When it comes to food, Parks on Tap offers a taste of summer: pulled pork sandwiches, brisket cheesesteak, smoked zucchini, jerk chicken salad and more. Top it off with deviled eggs, hummus or Parks on Tap’s signature cornbread. On the drinks side, Parks on Tap serves up a variety of craft cocktails and craft beers, including its signature Love Your Park Pale Ale, which was designed as a fundraiser for local parks.
Summer in Philly this year is going to look a bit different, but with all the exciting outdoor dining options near your 1213 Walnut apartment, you can still make it a memorable one!
