Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth Locally
June 5, 2020As the city anxiously awaits the full reopening of all of our favorite businesses, there’s one sweet way to deal with all that stress! Takeout and delivery have become staples of all of our diets, but restaurants aren’t only serving apps and entrees—don’t forget about dessert! And right near your 1213 Walnut apartment, there are many shops that specialize in sweet treats. Since June is the host of a number of special “holidays” celebrating all things sugar—with specific days for doughnuts, chocolate ice cream, smoothies and chocolate pudding all this month—what better reason to indulge, all while supporting local businesses?
One great spot to do just that is as at Beiler’s Doughnuts, located in the Reading Terminal Market, just four blocks from your 1213 Walnut apartment. In honor of National Doughnut Day June 5, treat yourself to one (or a few!) of the delicious treats from one of the city’s most famous doughnut shops. Beiler’s makes its sweet treats fresh on site every day, even during the recent health crisis.
The family-owned shop relies on a century-old recipe and only the freshest ingredients, with many of the cream fillings made at its Lancaster County headquarters. That homegrown sensibility even extends to the presentation, as all doughnuts are hand-rolled and individually hand-decorated. And these aren’t your run-of-the-mill doughnut shop selections! Beiler’s offers more than 50 varietites of doughnuts, using tasty ingredients like Oreos, peanut butter, M&Ms, cinnamon sugar, chocolate chips, s’mores, caramel and much more. Grab just one (but really, who could?), or buy them by the half-dozen or dozen.
While Reading Terminal is right near your 1213 Walnut apartment, if you want to play it safe or give delivery drivers a little extra love, you can even grab your doughnuts through apps like Grub Hub or Uber Eats.
We’ll all be back into the swing of things soon, but until then, take a little time to treat yourself!
