APARTMENTS
Learn Something New Right From Home
June 18, 2020After months of being stuck inside your 1213 Walnut apartment, you’re likely itching to get out and about and see all that the city has to offer: restaurants, bars, clubs, art galleries and museums. As the city slowly gets back to normal, it may still be some time until we can all flock to our favorite hot spots—but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some Philly arts and culture right from the comfort of your home.
Many of the city’s most famous museums have turned virtual, welcoming visitors through their digital doors to learn something new—and what better way to pass the time than by opening up your mind and getting energized about all the great venues you’re going to visit once the city is back up and running? One such spot is the Franklin Institute, the famed science museum located one mile from your 1213 Walnut apartment.
The Franklin Institute has recently launched Franklin@Home, a comprehensive digital offering that gives you the best of the museum, right in your own home. Log on and take a virtual tour of the Giant Heart—the larger-than-life (even through a computer!) attraction that teaches the intricacies of the organ. NightSkies@Home brings the museum’s planetarium to life, offering an eye-catching look at the stars, constellations and the science behind it all.
The program also features new content added daily—live chats with science experts, cooking demonstrations, experiments you can try at home, trivia and even science-themed Zoom backgrounds you can download for your next work meeting. Follow the museum on all its social platforms as well for fresh and engaging content each day.
So pop open the laptop, put in some headphones and get ready to learn something new, without leaving your couch!
