Where to Watch the Phillies When Baseball Returns
April 2, 2020We may be in a bit of a delay right now, but baseball season will eventually be back before we know it! If you’ve gotten used to hunkering down at home, a trip to Citizens Bank Park to cheer on the Phillies may seem like too big of a chore—with crowds, high prices and equally high temps. If you want to take in a game without all that fanfare, stick a bit closer to home with a trip to one of the many sports bars near your 1213 Walnut apartment.
Just two blocks away is Brickwall Tavern, a newcomer to the local sports bar scene that has already made a name for its size. Along with its sister bar and restaurant, Porta, the two take up more than 20,000 square feet—so there’s plenty of space for your whole game day crew! Loads of high-def TVs of all sizes are scattered around the venue, so whether you’re sitting at the bar, with a few pals in a booth or at one of the spacious tables with a full party, you’ll have a birds eye view of the game (all without barely leaving your 1213 Walnut apartment!).
And you can even try some games for yourself, as Brickwall Tavern offers shuffleboard tables to help you get your competitive juices flowing just in time for the game. If the Phils aren’t coming out on top, you can distract yourself by diving into the mouthwatering food and drink menus, which even include a special section just for Philly sports events—cheese curds, pigs in a blanket, onion rings, shrimp, wings and more. And on the beer side, the game day specials include $12 carafes of several craft beers as well as discounts on drafts and buckets. If the game is on a weekday afternoon, swing by for happy hour to enjoy $2 off craft drafts and $8 specialty cocktails.
So, when the Phils return, put on your jersey and play hooky at Brickwall Tavern for a game to remember!
