Where to Get the Best Mother’s Day Brunch in Philadelphia
May 6, 2021Finding the perfect Mother’s Day gift can be a challenge: Flowers, chocolates, gift certificates and more are always good staples but can get a little repetitive. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind experience, consider everyone’s favorite meal—brunch!—from one of Philly’s best restaurants. The culinary expertise around your 1213 Locust apartment is impressive, so the only question is which restaurant to make your reservation at.
One great contender is Bud & Marilyn’s, the award-winning restaurant and bar just one block from your 1213 Locust apartment. The venue is the brainchild of local restauranteurs Valerie Safran and Marcie Blaine Turney, who own eight restaurants throughout the 13th Street corridor. Bud & Marilyn’s is an homage to Turney’s Wisconsin upbringing, featuring a menu full of classic American comfort foods, served up in a 1960s setting. While you can enjoy the upscale retro décor in the main dining room or bar area, you can also opt for brunch al fresco or takeout or delivery options, if you want to recreate a Mother’s Day outing right from the comfort of your 1213 Locust apartment.
Brunch at Bud & Marilyn’s is served on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu features an extensive collection of brunch favorites along with some more adventurous finds. On the shareable side, opt for crispy cheese curds or falafel crusted cauliflower to get a taste for the menu before you dive into the entrees, which include braised shortrib cream chip beef, chicken and waffles, and veggie tofu hash. You can’t miss their famous buttered rolls, topped with fried chicken, Korean glazed tofu, or shrimp and cabbage. Of course, brunch is always best with cocktails, and Bud & Marilyn’s delivers, with a Bloody Mary, grapefruit mimosa, cocktail pouches and lots of handcrafted seasonal cocktails that will be a perfect complement to a spring day.
So this Mother’s Day, ditch the flowers and instead indulge in Philly’s exciting brunch scene.
